Transport is Everyone’s Business in Wellington Shire

Wellington Primary Care Partnership and Wellington Shire Council recently partnered to develop a suite of resources entitled Transport is Everyone’s Business in Wellington Shire.  Wellington Shire Mayor, Cr. Scott Rosetti, launched the resources at the Healthy Wellington Action Group meeting on the 7th August, 2013.

Developed specifically to enhance the accessibility of services, the resources will potentially guide service planning and delivery to better meet the needs of clients.

The resources comprise:

The toolkit and fact sheets have been designed to provide rural and regional agencies with practical information to increase access to their service by people who are transport disadvantaged.  The toolkit includes evidence-based strategies as a reference for active transport, organisational policy, land use planning and partnership initiatives.

The fact sheets were developed in consultation with Scope and are formatted for standard office printers.  They are intended to be accessible to a wide audience and can also be printed to A3 to be used as posters for waiting areas, staff rooms and foyers.

In addition to the resources above, the Overcoming Transport Barriers: Checklist for Practitioners and Program Organisers is a useful reference for service planners.  It provides practical tips and suggestions for agencies to consider in decision making and program planning, to ensure that local services and activities are accessible to those most in need.

We hope that you find these resources useful.
